Helping animals in need
Foundation for Foreign Animal Shelters (SBA) provides structural support to stray animals abroad. We provide financial, moral and material support to ailing animal shelters all over the world, with an emphasis on Southern and Eastern Europe.
The high quality of the animal shelters in the Netherlands is unique. In many parts of the world, the situation for animal shelters is much bleaker. Large populations of stray dogs and cats face a miserable existence on the fringes of society. These animals are malnourished, plagued by diseases and parasites, and treated as pariahs. Their only prospect is an early, miserable death after a life of hardship.
Without human intervention, there will be no change in this situation. Structured shelter and care is needed to make life more bearable for these animals. Fortunately, animal lovers in several countries have become increasingly concerned with the fate of these animals. Growing numbers of regular volunteers are setting up shelters with limited resources. These volunteers catch stray animals and provide them with love and care. These highly motivated and passionate people often face a chronic shortage of money, materials, and know-how. The SBA's main task is to help these groups establish strongly structured organizations.
On this site we will keep you informed of the location and status of the 19 foreign shelters we support. In addition, you can read more about our organization, our method, and how you can help us in the important work we do.
